FULL CIRCLE PERSPECTIVES

Now more than ever, wisdom comes when you see from different perspectives

Traditional top-down approaches to decision making are no longer working. We need new forms of collaboration and communication to solve problems together. Let's explore what these look like, and how they can dramatically improve life at your organization or in your community.

FRESH ENERGY & PERSPECTIVE

A great facilitator helps each person move past the limited perspective they bring into the room. A great trainer starts by surfacing the knowledge and wisdom that is already there, latent in the group's awareness. A great strategist clarifies what is most important to achieve, and brings a new sense of what is possible. No organizational problem is unsolvable when you bring in fresh energy and perspective.

1. FACILITATION

Whether you're a small team making some big decisions, or a large community coming together to plan, vision or learn, skilled facilitation is key. My training and approach emphasizes dialogue over debate, but with a full sharing of diverging views and options for maximum creativity and resolution. I want to ensure you end with clear next steps and stronger relationships. Let's talk about what you need.

2. CUSTOM ENGAGEMENTS

All of my work with clients is custom - I start with a deep curiosity about where you are at and what you need. Organizations face similar challenges that manifest in unique ways. I give you the opportunity to guide our engagement by helping me understand where you’re at, while supporting you to become clearer about what you really need.

STRATEGIC PLANNING & THEORY OF CHANGE

Unless strategic planning at your organization is exciting and energizing, you could be getting a lot more out of the crucial norm-setting and team-building process of planning for the future. Great plans — and smart processes behind them — engage the board, the leadership and the staff in a rare opportunity to align around the organization’s goals and its role in the broader ecosystem. They also live and breathe, evolving with your organization. We’ll talk about how to achieve that.

BETTER ONLINE & IN-PERSON SUPPORTER ENGAGEMENT

An engaged community is vital to your organization's ability to genuinely achieve its mission. Everyone from your board members to your digital-only subscribers has more they can do to help you succeed - if they are given the right opportunity at the right moment. We'll talk about how to use a ladder of engagement model to grow and deepen your support base, and ensure you're providing people with meaningful opportunities to make change. We'll discuss how to choose and implement the right digital tools to make mass, empowered engagement a reality for your organization.

TEAM GUIDELINES - GET YOUR TEAM ON THE RIGHT TRACK

Similar to Community Agreements, good team guidelines are a pivot point to create a healthy culture of shared norms and values. They can be invaluable to teams that are in distress, where seemingly intractable conflicts are diverting resources from the all-important work of social change. They're crucial in early team formation when you need to start out right. You can get the most challenged teams back on track with an investment in new norms and culture change, or ensure your organization will be healthy for the long haul.

DEVELOP A LEADERFUL ORGANIZATION

Suspect your organization isn’t getting what it needs out of your current approach to leadership development? You’re almost certainly right. Performance management and training plans can too easily become routine bureaucracy or slide off the radar entirely — but when used well they are a crucial system to help staff move into greater leadership, commitment and efficacy. Drawing on Dan Pink’s research on motivation, I focus on designing leadership development systems that create mastery, autonomy and purpose through clarified expectations and 360 degree communication.

Workshops tailored to meet you where you are at

DIGITAL ENGAGEMENT 101

Still not sure where digital tools fit in helping you grow your organization and achieve your mission? This workshop gives you an overview of the new opportunities that investing in social media can bring - even if your current capacity is very limited. Learn more about the philosophy, best practices and tools for successful digital engagement of your supporters. You'll develop a roadmap to get started with practical steps, and ideas for a long-term vision.

This draws on the Master Class I co-taught for the Tyee. Consider it a master class tailored to your organization, with ample opportunity for questions and problem solving.

ACTIVE LISTENING / FEEDBACK

Honesty, tact and clarity can prevent the backchannel criticism that is so detrimental to an organization's health. Most teams need to do more to hone these skills. This unlocks the potential for a healthy culture of feedback - where team members help each other to learn and grow.

Do people in your organization share feedback freely and respectfully? Or do disputes and critique stay below the surface, where they can fester and become toxic? This training will help team members learn to trust each other to be authentic, open to growing and learning, and generous. Develop a culture where people help each other strive for excellence and overcome fears of failure.
